In Utah, law makers are trying to criminalize the filming of animal abuse on factory farms.
So Katherine Heigl has written a letter on PETA’s behalf in an attempt to persuade a vote against the House Bill.
“My husband and I married in Utah, and I’ve been proud to call the state home for the last couple of years.
This bill makes our state’s agricultural community seem desperate to hide illegal and inhumane treatment of animals from the public.
As animals cannot defend themselves, the public must maintain its right to document illegal cruel practices in order to alert law enforcement to its existence.”
It’s ridiculous they are blatantly trying to cover up their animal abuse.
“In 2008, my friends at PETA went undercover at a major pig farm in Iowa that supplies Hormel and found that workers were beating pigs with metal rods and jabbing clothespins into their eyes; one employee was even caught sexually abusing a pig with a cane.
Because of this investigation, six workers were charged with a total of 22 counts of livestock neglect and abuse, and all of them admitted guilt.”
So without the ability to undercover film this abuse it will just be able to go on, and these horrible people will be able to terrorize more animals.
“PETA worked hand in hand with local law enforcement to achieve these convictions, for which the undercover footage made the sheriff’s job much easier. Please don’t impede law enforcement by passing this terrible bill.
I hope that legislators in Utah recognize that they need to work to prevent cruelty to animals by strengthening laws, not penalizing those who are trying to expose this cruelty.”
Let’s hope the Heiglinator can stop this bill from going through or else there is one dark future in store for the animals.

The The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is supporting the House Judiciary Committee for passing H.R. 511, a ban that stops the importation and trade of nine nonnative species of large, exotic constrictor snakes.
The snakes on the list are the Indian python, reticulated python, Northern African python, Southern African python, boa constrictor, green anaconda, yellow anaconda, DeSchauensee’s anaconda, and Beni anaconda.
You may not have heard of many or any of those because they’re EXOTIC!
The ASPCA said:
“The pet trade in these exotic reptiles poses serious threats to public safety, animal welfare, and the environment.
Passing H.R. 511 would mark a significant achievement for the welfare of these snakes, for the protection of our native species, and for the safety of our communities.
The ASPCA urges support for this important legislation on the House and Senate floors.”
These breeds of snake pose a threat to the environment, and are dangerous, so it’s good that this new ban is in effect.
The senator who put the bill through said:
“While the animals pay the ultimate price, local governments and taxpayers are left to bear the enormous fiscal burden when dangerous wild animals are set loose or escape, or when they are seized due to neglect.”
We’re so happy that this ban went though, it will save exotic pets from people who can’t properly care for them and save other people from released exotic pets.
