A great idea!
There are many ways elementary school children benefit from pet companionship. Pets can teach compassion, responsibility and ignites curiosity and respect forabout animals and their habitats.
That’s why PetSmart is GIVING AWAY (like, for free) animals to teachers who want them!
The pet retail chain is now offering a “Pets in the Classroom” grant for elementary (pre-K through 6th) grade teachers of both public and private schools. The program will cover all the expenses for a classroom specialty pet and habitat.
Grants are available in the following categories through your local PetSmart store: Hamster, Guinea Pig, Fish, Bearded Dragon and Leopard Gecko. So yeah, you can get a dragon in your classroom!
There is no excuses for ANY elementary school teacher not to get one!

So I’ve been trying to get to the grocery store all day, which is a good 1,000 feet from my snailpartment, and on the way I ran into these two construction beavers who were all like: “We’re sorry Mister Snail, but you can’t go any further down this road. The bridge is currently out.”
… and I rolled my snail eyes at them and breathed a heavy sigh before uttering my response: “Watch me, Mr. and Mrs. Buckteeth.”

Not only are they cute and cuddly (and deadly); giant kung fu pandas could also help produce biofuel…
…from their POOP! Yuck!
Apparently, there is an enzyme-producing bacteria in panda poo that breaks down plant materials that could be useful in the production of biofuel.
Seeing as how biofuel is a source of “clean” energy, it definitely seems worth looking into.
And don’t worry, scientists plan on finding a way to use yeast to generate the enzyme, saving people from sweeping the jungle floors of China, searching for “brown gold.” LOLz.
